Spousal parole in place is a new program where certain spouses and step-children of U.S. citizens can qualify for parole in the United States, if they meet certain requirements. Once they get parole, they can then adjust their status to get a green card from within the United States (without having to leave the country).
To be considered for Spousal Parole in Place, an individual must:
- Be present in the United States without admission or parole;
- Have been continuously present in the United States for at least 10 years as of June 17, 2024;
- Have a legally valid marriage to a U.S. citizen as of June 17, 2024;
- Must not have disqualifying criminal history or otherwise constitute a threat to national security or public safety; and
- Should otherwise merit a favorable exercise of discretion.
