How Long Your E2 Visa Will be Valid For (Not All Countries the Same!)
Editor:
Aspiring entrepreneurs and investors looking to pursue the American Dream through an E2 Investor Visa should be aware of the limitations of an E2 visa. For example, not all E2 visas are valid for the same length of time, and not all E2 visas have the same terms regarding their ability to enter and exit the US. This blog post explains how to check how long your E2 visa will be valid for.
To start off, the E2 visa is a non-immigrant visa that allows someone to invest in a US business, either by starting a new business or investing in an existing one, and to live in the US while operating their business. However, the E2 visa is only available to citizens of certain countries that have an E2 treaty with the US, which excludes certain major countries including China, India, Brazil, and Russia.
For citizens of countries with an E2 treaty with the US, the length of the E2 visa and the number of entries authorized can vary depending on the applicant’s country of citizenship. For example, citizens of Canada are eligible to receive an E2 visa with a validity period of 60 months (five years) and a multiple-entry visa. On the other hand, citizens of Jordan are issued an E2 visa for a maximum period of three months and only authorized for a single entry.
To check the terms of a potential E2 visa, we suggest going to www.travel.state.gov and clicking on “U.S. Visa: Reciprocity and Civil Documents by Country.” From there, select the letter corresponding to the applicant’s country of citizenship and find the relevant information about the E2 visa’s validity period and number of entries authorized.
In summary, if you are considering pursuing an E2 Investor Visa, it is important to understand that the length of the E2 visa and the number of entries authorized can vary depending on your country of citizenship. Check the terms of your potential E2 visa on www.travel.state.gov to ensure that you are informed about the requirements and limitations of your visa.
